Who we are
Slice ("we", "us") is an AI video creation service available at slice.video. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what we do with it. Questions or requests: [email protected].
What we collect
- Account data — your email address, password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text), plan and billing status, credit balance, and timezone.
- Content you create and upload — prompts, scripts, video clips, images, audio files and music you upload, and the videos Slice generates for you.
- Character photos and voice recordings — if you use the Characters feature, photos you upload and voice recordings you make. These may include biometric-like data (a face, a voice). We only use them to generate the content you ask for, and only for your account.
- Connected social accounts — if you connect Instagram, YouTube or TikTok, we store the account identifier, username, and OAuth access tokens (encrypted at rest). We also retrieve engagement metrics (views, likes, comments) for posts you publish through Slice.
- Payment data — handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we store your Stripe customer reference and subscription status.
- Technical data — server logs (IP address, request data) and error/performance telemetry, used to keep the service working.
How we use it
- To provide the service: generating videos, storing your media, rendering exports, and publishing to channels you connect.
- To process your content with AI models (see "Processors" below). Your prompts, uploaded media, character photos and voice recordings are sent to these providers only as needed to fulfil your generation requests.
- To bill you, prevent abuse (e.g. email verification before generation), and provide support.
- To send transactional email (verification, completed videos). We don't send marketing email without consent.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your content to train AI models.
Processors we share data with
Slice is built on trusted infrastructure and AI providers, each receiving only what's needed for their function:
- AI generation — fal.ai, Google (Gemini API), Black Forest Labs: receive prompts and, where relevant, your uploaded media, character photos, or voice recordings to generate the content you request.
- Storage — Cloudflare R2 stores your media and generated videos.
- Hosting — Hetzner (EU-based servers).
- Payments — Stripe.
- Email — Postmark.
- Monitoring — New Relic (error and performance telemetry).
- Social platforms — Meta (Instagram), Google (YouTube), TikTok, when you connect an account and publish.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a preference for your theme. No third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Retention and deletion
- Your content stays until you delete it (deleting a slice, clip, character or track removes its stored media) or delete your account.
- Deleting your account removes your personal data, media, characters, voice recordings and connected-account tokens. Some records we're legally required to keep (e.g. billing records) are retained as required.
- Social OAuth tokens are deleted immediately when you disconnect a channel.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. Email us and we'll act on your request. You can also disconnect social accounts and delete content yourself at any time from within the app.
Children
Slice is not directed at children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this page when the policy changes and adjust the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
