How to make a series with Slice

  1. Create your main character once. Under Characters, give them a name and describe them — or upload a photo — and pick the look you like. That look is locked.
  2. Make episode 1. On the new-video page, choose your character under Feature a character, write the series name and "Episode 1", and say how it should end — a cliffhanger works best.
  3. Make episode 2 the same way, starting the idea with a one-line recap: "Previously: Nora found footprints in the lighthouse." Then say what happens now.
  4. Keep the same style for every episode so the whole series looks like one show.

Tips for a series people binge

  • End every episode on a question. A voice, a message, a door left open. The cliffhanger is why people follow you for part 2.
  • Number your episodes in the idea. "The Lighthouse Mystery — Episode 3" gives each video a title that lines up with the rest.
  • Let characters talk. For dramas, talking characters speak their own lines with lip sync instead of a narrator.
  • 30–60 seconds per episode is the sweet spot on TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
  • Put it on autopilot. An automation turns one brief into a recurring series — it makes each new episode a day ahead for you to check and can post it for you.

Questions

How do I keep my character looking the same in every episode?

Create the character once under Characters — describe them or upload a photo — and pick them on the new-video page for each episode. Slice uses the same locked look in every scene, so episode 5 looks like episode 1.

How do I make episode 2 follow on from episode 1?

Start the new episode's idea with a one-line recap — 'Previously: …' — then say what happens now and how it should end. Keep the series name and episode number in the idea so the titles line up.

Can Slice post a new episode every day for me?

Yes. An automation turns one brief into a recurring series: it picks the next subject, makes each episode a day ahead for you to check, and can post it to Instagram Reels on a schedule.

Can my characters talk to each other?

Yes. Talking characters speak their own lines with lip sync instead of a narrator — good for dramas. Give each character a voice when you create them. Talking characters come with any credit pack.

How long can each episode be?

Up to 90 seconds. The free trial makes episodes up to 15 seconds; most series work best at 30–60 seconds with a cliffhanger at the end.
